Deep hole drilling is a method of cutting metal to produce a new bore hole or alter bore hole diameter and depth of an existing one. Engineers use the depth to diameter (D:d ratio) to determine whether a hole is a deep hole or not. For a deep hole, the D:d ratio is more than 10:1.
